I usually try to keep my health issues out of the public eye but I think this might be worth the exception. I was feeling a little dizzy at times and short of breathe so I went to the doctor to get some blood work done. I started noticing a strange feeling in my chest...like my heart was doing flips and then trying to catch back up to its normal rhythm. I figured that I had better get a few more tests done that included an EKG. The cardiologist discovered that I did indeed have a small issue but nothing that was life-threatening. Actually, I don't really understand all of the terminology he used but the plastic heart prop was enough to make me understand. In short, I have a flap that usually closes naturally from infancy into childhood but somehow mine had not followed the course of nature. Basically, I can sometimes get a bit of backflow of blood through the opened flap which causes that funny feeling. I don't have to have that fixed or watched and I really have no need to worry about my condition. However, this scared me enough to think that taking care of my heart is a priority from here on out. I decided to join the Go Red For Women campaign and learn more about keeping my heart in the best possible shape. I visited www.goredforwomen.org for info on how to prevent heart disease, heart healthy recipes, and stories from other women. I would encourage all people to visit this site and learn how to take care of one of your most vital organs!

Roger and I are off to Nashville for the CMA's. I am going to try to upload video from our adventure throughout the couple of days we are there. My goal is to have the first video post up by Thursday morning. Be sure to check back for updates. I am trying to communicate a little better through my blogs so be sure to check it out again this Thurs. for a little Nashville gossip!
As I scroll through Facebook and Twitter I notice a common trend...self pity. It seems like the perfect place to let everyone know your frustrations and heartaches. It brings instant gratification especially when people "like" or "retweet" your comments, but does it really solve what is happening within yourself? I have always been told to be happy and think positive. This isn't always easy to do when life gets tough or people are doing you wrong, however, it is important to your well-being to stay focused on the "good". Take a moment to think of your favorite singer, actor, dancer, ect...and I bet you can find a heartache story in their past. Let's start this week off together focusing on the positives in our lives and conquer the day with a smile on our face that can't be denied!
I love Kelly Clarkson but I was just as shocked as anybody that she was nominated for a CMA in the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Does she really deserve such an honor because of her most recent duet with Jason Aldean? I really didn't think so at first. Kelly has always had a love for country music but was heavily marketed in the pop world. It just goes to show that she really is a talented artist with a set of pipes made for any genre. I tried to think of another solo female country artist (that wasn't already nominated in that category) but got stuck. So in conclusion, I am happy that she is among the other ladies nominated for that award, but I definitely don't feel that she deserves it more than Martina, Taylor, Carrie, or Miranda.
I should be rested and ready to go after a long Labor Day weekend, but I am so worn out and can't seem to shake this fatigue. Sometimes you just need a vacation from the vacation. It's a good thing this is a short week!
I hope everybody had a great weekend! I thought I was going to have a relaxing weekend at home with the kiddos, but that usually never happens. Saturday was pretty quiet though even with all of the laundry I had to fold and put away. I even got to watch a classic Tom Hanks movie, "Big". I know....guilty pleasure! Well the quiet didn't last long when my husband brought home a dirt bike for my 3 year-old son. It came with training wheels and one gear that we could turn way down so that he couldn't speed too much. My husband had so much fun teaching him to ride and I just sat back trying to calm my nerves. I can see this is going to be my future...worrying, praying, and hoping he doesn't do anything crazy! I am not looking forward to the day he turns 16!!!
So I need a little help here. I love going to the Chiefs game, but my husband's idea of tailgating and mine are a little different. When I was a kid going with my parents, we had a big group of people that would drink, grill, and play some flag football. This seemed to be what most of the tailgators were doing. Bottom line is: it was fun. These days aren't quite the same for me though. The last time I went to a game was about 3 years ago and I went with my husband and in-laws. They parked and walked into the stadium. Totally skipped the tailgating! How do I convince them that tailgating is fun?? They aren't into drinking but who doesn't like a fresh and hot brat or dog on the grill right? I guess the simple solution would be to get a group of friends together and go have some fun Kansas City style! Anyway, Happy Red Friday and Go Chiefs!!
As I drive into work every morning around 4:10AM, I begin to wonder what other people are doing on the highway that early. I notice that if I leave at 4:20AM the traffic is slightly heavier. I travel the well-known I70 westbound through downtown to make my way over to I35. As I sip my coffee in complete silence (most mornings...no radio unless I really need to wake up) I began to wonder if these are just people traveling through our beautiful city. One morning though, I passed a car with a license plate that read PUNTER and had the MU type vibe around it. I passed the car and looked in the window to see the driver, which took me by surprise. I found an elderly man that could have been in his late 70's behind the wheel. Now, what would he be doing at 4 something in the morning??? Maybe passing through to visit a relative? Who knows! I didn't think much about it until the next morning when I passed the same car and driver around the same time as the previous morning. Now I'm thinking....this poor guy can't even retire! He must work early hours like me. I will never know but it makes me want to meet this guy and find out his story. Would you believe that about a month went by and I never saw him again until one afternoon. Instead of heading westbound on I70, I was heading home late that day (probably around 5:30) and saw that guy heading in the same direction as me on I70 eastbound. All I can say is that he must be a really hard worker and he gave me inspiration without ever knowing it!

Helllllooooo Wolf Pack! Thank you so much for making me feel right at home these past few days as I joined Roger in the mornings. It has already been so busy around here with giving away Kenny and Tim tickets plus a trip to LA to see Kenny live on the Ellen show. The Wayside Waifs Pet Adopt-A-Thon was a huge success as many animals went to loving homes. We interviewed Jake Owens last week and learned that he is not allowed to tell Kenny Chesney "thank you" or he will be kicked off the tour....not literally. I am still getting used to waking up early, but so far things have been really great!
