I wanted to share some news from the Music Department of 106-5 The Wolf. We always strive to give you more music, and we've come up with a great way to give you more music on your weekends! Starting every Saturday at Midnight each time we start playing music you'll hear 10 songs played back to back. We're calling it our "Totally Ten In A Row Weekends"
It's getting to be that time of year we all begin spending more time outside with friends and family, out at the lakes, and in our back yards. I just want you to know we're here for you every weekend with more music and now even fewer interruptions. I hope you have a great summer and thanks for listening to the Wolf!
For those who've been helping with the music test I thank you! There is a new music test waiting for you now by logging in and selecting "get points" and then "Music Test"
If you haven't participated yet, I hope you will! Your feedback has been very helpful for us to know which songs you like, and help make this truly your station!
Great show last night. For those of youwho love some good banjo music, you should check out  http://www.stevemartin.com/ Very Blue Grassy but with his brand of comedy mixed into the show. What a talented banjo player!
If he comes back to town I would recommend that you check it out... One of the best shows I've seen! (WP)
217 pets found forever homes thanks to your generosity. And thanks to Wayside Waifs for the half price adoptions. Times are tough financially and making pets just a little more affordable is nice. And also thanks to Wayside for helping me and my fiancee find a new addition to our home. His name is Willie and he's a 2 month old Beagle/Labrador mix. I looked on-line and that mix is called a Labbe, or Beagador. We've only had him a few days but he's already figuring things out. So far we've had no accidents in our home. He's a good boy.
If you missed the Adopt-A-Thon and you're interested in finding a new friend or family member. You should check out www.waysidewaifs.org The regular adoption price is very resonable. And so much cheaper than what you would pay at a pet store. Not to mention the pets are more well cared for than what you will find at a pet store. And they're already spade or neutered.
If you're looking for pure breeds over 25% of the animals are pure breeds.
Thanks again to you, our listeners for opening your hearts and homes to 217 animals.
And thank you again Wayside for our new pup Willie!
Big Congrats to Keith Urban! The Academy of Country Music is presenting him the with the Jime Reeves International Award. He's getting it for his efforts to spread country music across the globe. (Read More Here)Â
which is the estimated halfway point of his Meet Me Halfway walk to Phoenix, Arizona for homeless teens. Jimmy tweeted, "I cannot believe I've walked to Texas from Nashville." His walk has been made a bit easier by lightening his load a bit. Wayne said, "Since I've stopped wearing my backpack, I've been able to pick up my [walking] pace. I've felt my knees and my back get sore out here on the road, but the key for me has been stretching, wearing the right shoes, and drinking a lot of water. I'm making sure I take stretch breaks throughout the day, because my hamstrings have a tendency to tighten up. You know, in hindsight, I don't know if there is a way you can train for something like this. I didn't. I've just always been really active and I felt like I could pull it off."
Jimmy continues to receive some very special gifts on his journey. He explains to AOL's The Boot, "People are giving me crosses every day now because I mentioned it one time in my tweet that I wanted to take the cross that I was wearing and give it to one of the kids there in Phoenix when I see them. The next day, and every day since then, I get crosses from my fans who come out to support project Meet Me Halfway. It's turned into quite a cross collection now out on the road. I got 28 crosses today." He says it's cool he is swamped with cross necklaces, but he can't wear them all or he'd "look like Mr. T!" Wayne expects to arrive in Phoenix sometime in May or June.
If you're not already a Wolf Pack member you will need to sign up to participate. We have a new feature, when you log on to get points you can now take a "Music Test" you will get to listen to new songs. And you'll have the opportunity to give your opinion about each one. When you complete the test you'll recieve 15,000 Wolf Pack Points! The Program Director and I will take your feedback into consideration when chosing which songs to play, and which ones to play more, or less. Help us make the station you want to listen to by (Clicking Here)
A weekend when I can get outside and do something! What a rough winter we've all had. I'm very thankful we'll get the chance to enjoy some more comfortable weather and at the very least begin getting the winter snow melt grime residue cleared out. Hope you have a great weekend! (WP)
I was out last week for CRS which stands for Country Radio Seminar. It's the better part of a week, and country programmers and station personnel head to Nashville for networking, education, and familiarizing ourselves with the new best music coming our way in the next year. There are some folks that are worth checking out. Most of these folks are pretty unknown but you will most likely hear a lot more about them in the year, and years to come.
Tyler Dickerson, a new artist on Lyric Street. Only 16 years old, but the attitude and song writing ability of someone a lot older, you can listen to his stuff on myspace.
Emily West: She was recently in town for a show at Fuel and I saw her again with her entire band. She's on the verge of turning into something big, you can listen to some of her songs on her myspace page also. We're currently playing Blue Sky featuring Keith Urban on the Wolf.
Josh Thompson: also makes my list for possible superstars, many of you may have heard "Beer On The Table" which was his first single. I have pretty good feeling he'll be around for at while. He has a album available now and should be available at Walmart and Target. You can hear songs from it on Myspace.
Last but not least, Mallary Hope She's a new artist on MCA Records. The trend has been going toward singer song writers in Nashville for the last 5 years or so. More and more labels are searching for talented singers and songwriters. Mallary fits the bill, great voice and a great song writer. Check out some of her stuff on her Myspace page.
There are more that I'm missing but the good news there is a lot of fresh talent out there and some great new music you'll be hearing on the Wolf soon! (WP)
will take the stage with rocker Steve Miller for an upcoming edition of C-M-T's Crossroads. The two first played together in San Francisco at one Kenny's stadium shows. He tells us, "I didn't think I'd ever meet guys like Steve Miller, much less be friends with him and share a stage with him."
I saw that show in San Francisco and Steve Miller joined Kenny on stage for a couple of songs toward the end of his set, it was one of those cool moments that I'll never forget. Let me tell you this crossroads is one not to miss. We'll keep you posted when we get more info!
When Steve called Kenny to invite him to be part of Crossroads, he quickly said yes. "He's so down to earth, so easy-going, you'd never think about what a big star he is... It is truly an honor to get to do this with him."
Rascal Flatts, is Friday night at the Sprint Center and for those of you who have your tickets it's going to be a great show. For those who don't there are still tickets available... Click Here to Get Them.
I saw this story on AOL, and thought it was pretty funny and wanted to share this picture. It's on I-35 near the Wyoming and Minnesota border. It's unknown who put it up, but no doubt a fan of W... Enjoy.
As the music director here at the Wolf. I was excited to be able to get Emily West to town for an upcoming show. It will be at Fuel, I've seen her several times at shows in the past and I think she has something really special. I hope you might think about coming out for the show! (Click Here) for more info

On January 1, 2010, Jimmy Wayne launched his âMeet Me Halfwayâ campaign when he begins his solo walk halfway across America in Nashville, TN. Wayneâs intention is not only to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless, especially at risk children, teens and young adults, but also raise funds for organizations that benefit homeless youth, including HomeBase Youth Services, a Phoenix, AZ based organization that provides essentials for homeless young adults. Wayne will begin the walk at 10:00 a.m. CT on January 1st at Monroe Harding in Nashville, another organization that services at risk children and young adults. He plans to walk to Phoenix, AZ.
I'm amazed by how quickly time is going by. I am used January just dragging by super slow. Not this year, I think mostly because the older I get the more demands are put on my time. I'm obsessed with time. I have a clock in every room of my house. I am rarely late for anything, I feel like I'm going to close my eyes and next thing I know my life will be passed by. Kinda reminds me of the that song from Kenny Chesney, "Don't Blink" I hope you're all making the best of your new decade. I'm doing my best! Happy New Year once more! Next thing we know it will be over! (WP)
I hope all the Wolf listeners had a great Christmas! We end a decade this week. It's amazing to look back at all we've been through in the last ten years. The one thing that defines this decade would have to be 9/11 The single most deadly attack on American soil by a foreign enemy. So many other things happened but all pales in comparison to that moment in time. I hope that the next decade will allow all of us to heal and prosper. A very happy new year for all of us! (WP)
This Christmas Eve. and Christmas Morning  join the Wolf for a special feature. "Christmas In America" Hosted by Bob Kingsley. Bob counts down the 40 biggest songs every Sunday morning on the Wolf and Bob will be doing this special Christmas show for you this Christmas Eve, with an Encore Performance running Christmas Morning. So, you'll have two opportunities to hear the show. You won't want to miss 6 hours of Christmas Music, Stories and Memories. From 6PM to Midnight Christmas Eve. Then again at 6AM-Noon Christmas Morning. Thanks for listening to the Wolf this Christmas!
I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to those who came out for the show last night! And also for the artists who gave their time to help out some kids in the KC area have something to open on Christmas morning. With unemployment up this year, it's going to take an even higher toll on the charities in KC because more families will need the services they offer. So thanks to all who donated toys to the Salvation Army! Their slogan "Doing The Most Good" really did apply to last night's show! Also thanks to the Midland Theater, they allowed us to hold the show there free of charge to help the Salvation Army! We couldn't have done it without them! Â
Jimmy Wayne, Love & Theft, Chris Young, and Jason Michael Carroll out did themselves. I'm sorry for those who weren't able to see it, the show was truly memorable.
There is a museum in Nashville, The Country Radio DJ Hall of Fame which is operated by the CRB (Country Radio Broadcasters Association) which most people have probably never heard of. However, there are some folks in the Country DJ Hall Of Fame that you probably have heard of. Bob Kingsley, Lon Helton, and many other legendary DJ's. They are doing an online auction this year to benefit the Hall of fame and they are giving you the opportunity to bid on some very cool items that are hard to get ahold of. Here is the list. I'm pretty excited about the Thanksgiving Holiday. I have a lot to be Thankful for this year. There is always so much going on around this time of year with shopping and trying to get everything done at work so you can take the holidays off. I hope you are able to really enjoy the time with family and don't forget to say a prayer for those who don't get the chance to see family or who don't have a family this Thanksgiving... (WP)
There are many people in the media and medical world speculating about how bad this flu season will be. With the H1N1 flu virus on the loose there are likely to be many sick people this year.  Protect yourself (Click Here) for the best practices to keep from getting sick and what to do if you catch the e flu, courtesy of the Center for Disease Control. Good Luck this flu season! (WP)
I went to watch my nephew play soccer on Saturday, I had to bundle up. It has been a while since I endured a KS winter so I could be way off, but I thought we had a couple months with the temps in the 60's. I am hoping we get a few warmer weeks before the nasty stuff hits. Hope you have a great week! Thanks for listening to the Wolf. (WP)
So the "weather website"Â I look at says we will get our first freeze this weekend! Kinda wild, I had hoped to have so much more done around the house before it really started getting cold. Oh well, I'm OK with lazy weekends doing nothing because it's too damn cold. Hope you have a great weekend and try to stay warm! (WP)
Tough getting out of bed on days like this. There is something about the sound of rain that pretty much sucks any ambition right out of me. But I'm here... As I write this I'm playing "something to be proud of" from Montgomery Gentry. I think getting outof bed today is something to be proud of. :0) Hope you have a great day and thank for listening to the wolf! (WP)
I know there are a lot of Taylor fans out there. I remember getting so many calls from folks before the show she had with Keith Urban, wanting to get back stage at the show to meet her. A lot of people with kids here in the building were knocking on my door including a lot of people I had not met before or talked to since. It's a big deal to meet this rising star and if you sing like Taylor you will have the chance to possibly meet her, and if you win the local portion of the contest, you'll win a thousand bucks. It's a pretty sweet deal you can click here to find out all the info, and good luck. (WP)
You may have noticed that we have a brand new website. One of the big parts of that is to spend more time bloging. I like keeping in touch with listeners and I also like to get feedback on things we're doing here at the wolf. I'm also the music director in addition to one of the DJ's so I want to throw this out there, if there is a song you really love that we're not playing, tell me about it. Who knows it might end up getting played. I am always looking for input. Requests are always welcome! Thanks for listening! Don't forget to listen to win Martina McBride and Trace tickets this week. Tickets go on sale on October 30th, but you can win them from us before you can buy them... Hope you have a great week! (WP)
Well the week has begun and it's feeling more like fall and I'm starting to look forward to the fall colors. I've lived in California for most of the last 7 years and this will be the first time in a couple years I've seen the fall colors in KS. I'm looking forward to Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin, that always makes it feel like fall to me. It good being home! Thanks to everyone who came out the Adopt-a-thon at www.waysidewaifs.org we sent 216 Wolf listeners home new additions to their familys. I hope they have many years of happy healthy fun with their new pets. Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week is good!!!! (WP)
Thanks for listening to the wolf... I'm on between 10-2 everyday and coming up next week you'll have a chance to win a trip to Disney World! Listen for me to tell you to call in during the 1PM hour... And Good Luck!
